Summary
Form 1099-MISC can be used to report a number of different income types. In order to have it factored into your rental business income, it needs to be tied to your Schedule E.
How to Attach 1099-MISC to Schedule E
The following process will allow you to add your 1099-MISC to your Schedule E:
- First, add Schedule E, and complete the information on the form as it applies to your situation.
- Go to the Federal taxes section.
- Click on the Review tab on the left-hand side.
- Select I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form .
- In the search box, enter 1099-MISC.
- Add and open the form.
- Select This isn’t for business.
- Select Yes on question “Is this income from your real estate rental business?“
- On the next page, select the Schedule E that was completed earlier in Step 1.
- Click Save to apply changes.
