Overview
Form 8959, Additional Medicare Tax, is used when a taxpayer is subject to the Additional Medicare Tax on wages, compensation, or self-employment income that exceeds certain threshold amounts.
Form 8960, Net Investment Income Tax (NIIT), is used to calculate the 3.8% tax on certain net investment income for individuals, estates, and trusts whose income exceeds specific threshold amounts.
Add Form 8959/8960
To add the Form 8959 and Form 8960:
- Go to Federal Taxes.
- Click Review.
- Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- Enter Form 8960 in the search box and click on Form 8960 – Net Investment Income Tax / 8959 Additional Medicare Tax to add and open the form.
- For Form 8960, fill out the top portion of the form
- For Form 8959, fill out the bottom portion of the form
- Enter your information and click Save.
