What Is This Screen?
This screen is used to complete Colorado Form DR 0102, which allows a surviving spouse, executor, or other representative to claim a refund on behalf of a deceased taxpayer.
You’ll only need to complete this screen if the primary taxpayer or spouse listed on the return has passed away and is due a state income tax refund.
Who Should Use This Screen?
Use this screen if:
- You are filing a Colorado return for a deceased taxpayer
- A refund is expected on the return
- You are the person legally entitled to claim that refund (such as a surviving spouse or estate representative)
Information You’ll Need to Enter
Person Filing the Claim
Provide the address of the person making the claim, but only if it differs from the address already shown on the tax return.
Filing This Claim As
Select one of the following roles (this selection is required for the form to print):
- Surviving wife or husband
- Administrator or executor (requires attaching a court certificate showing appointment)
- Claimant for estate where there is no court proceeding
How to Add the Deceased Taxpayer Refund Claim Screen
- Go to the State Taxes section on the left-hand side.
- Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- Select Colorado from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Other tab.
- Choose CO – Claim for Refund on Behalf of Deceased Taxpayer.
- Enter the address (if applicable) and select the appropriate claimant type.
- Click Save to complete the entry.
