Use the IN – Schedule IN-DEP-A screen to provide extra information for dependents claimed on the Indiana return, especially for first-time claims or adopted children. This information supports completion of Schedule IN-DEP and IN-DEP-A as required by the state.
How to Add This Screen
- Click on the State Taxes section on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Click the link I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- Use the drop list to select Indiana.
- Under the General tab, select IN – Schedule IN-DEP-A – Additional Dependent Information.
- Complete the screen.
- Click Save.
Entry Fields
Dependent Name and SSN – Select the dependent from the drop-down list.
Dependents must be entered on the federal return first to appear here.
Schedule IN-DEP Information
Dependent child claimed for the first time – Check this box if this is the first year the taxpayer is claiming the dependent on an Indiana return.
Schedule IN-DEP-A Information
This section should only be completed if the dependent is adopted.
For Who is the adoptive parent of this dependent? select whether the adoptive parent is the Taxpayer, Spouse, or filed Jointly.
