Overview
This screen is used to claim the Kansas Aviation and Aerospace Tax Credit, available to qualified employees and employers in the Kansas aviation sector. The credit provides financial incentives for employment and relocation within this industry.
You may file under one of two roles:
- Qualified Employee
- Qualified Employer
Only one filing type should be selected per entry.
Entry Fields
Identification and Role
- Whose form is this? – Select Taxpayer, Spouse, or Joint
– EIN – Enter the Federal Employer Identification Number, if applicable - Name of Partnership, S corporation, LLC, or LLP – Required for employer filings
- Select Filing as a Qualified Employee or Qualified Employer
Part A – Qualified Employee Credit
Employment History
- Name of Qualified Employer – Employer where the taxpayer is currently or was most recently employed
- Date on which Qualified Employee Commenced Employment
- Date on which Qualified Employee Ended Employment (if applicable)
Select one of the following employment status options:
- An employee who has not previously been employed in the Kansas aviation sector
- An employee previously employed in the Kansas aviation sector (separated from prior employer for at least 60 days)
– If this applies, enter the previous employer’s name and date of separation - Other – Use only if neither of the above applies; provide explanation in the additional field
Credit Calculation
- Amount of qualified employee credit in current tax year – Generally $5,000 for each of the four years following the first year the credit is claimed
- Enter zero if claiming a carryforward only
Carryforward and Tax Info
- Employee credit carried forward from prior year – Enter any prior-year carryforward
- Kansas tax liability – Required for carryforward and credit limit calculation
How to Add This Screen
- Go to the State taxes section.
- Select I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- In the drop list, select Kansas.
- Select the Credits tab.
- Select Aviation/Aerospace Tax Credit to add and open the form.
- Enter the amount on the applicable line.
- Click Save to apply changes.
