What is Form 1099-SSA? (SSA.gov)

Form 1099-SSA is a tax form the Social Security Administration mails to you every January if you receive Social Security benefits. It shows the total amount of benefits you received in the previous year, so you know how much Social Security income to report to the IRS on your .

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments aren’t taxed. If SSI is the only payment you receive from us, Social Security won’t send you a Benefit Statement.

To enter information for Form 1099-SSA:

  1. Go to Federal Taxes.
  2. Click Review.
  3. Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
  4. Enter 1099-SSA in the search box and add Form SSA-1099/RRB-1099.
  5. Enter your information and click Save.

No State ID

If no state is listed on Form 1099-SSA, enter 000000 for the State ID.
