What is Form 1099-NEC?

Form 1099-NEC is used to report nonemployee compensation.

To enter information for Form 1099-NEC,

  1. Go to Federal Taxes.
  2. Click Review.
  3. Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
  4. Enter NEC in the search box and add Form 1099 – NEC.
  5. Enter your information and click Save.

No SSN or EIN

Unfortunately, if your 1099-NEC does not have the payer’s SSN or EIN listed, your return cannot be e-filed and must be paper filed. recommends contacting the payer directly to retrieve this information, if possible.
