IN – Indiana Form IT-2210 – Penalty for Underpayment of Estimated Tax

Article: 50320

Overview

Indiana full-year residents use IT-2210 to calculate any penalties owed for the underpayment of estimated income tax throughout the year. If you did not have enough tax withheld or failed to make adequate estimated payments on time, the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) may require you to file this form.

This form can also be used to request a waiver of the penalty or to show that no penalty is due.

Requesting a Penalty Waiver

You may request a waiver of the penalty by completing the Schedule IT-2210A, included within Form IT-2210, if the underpayment was due to:

  • Retirement or disability
  • Natural disasters or other unusual circumstances
  • Income received unevenly throughout the year (e.g., self-employment or stock sales)
