Overview
If you made out-of-state or online purchases during the tax year without paying sales tax, Pennsylvania requires you to report and pay Use Tax on those purchases. This article explains how to access and complete the PA – Use Tax form within your online tax software.
What is Use Tax?
Use Tax is a tax on purchases made where Pennsylvania sales tax was not collected. This includes:
- Online purchases
- Out-of-state purchases
- Catalog or phone orders.
You are responsible for reporting and paying Use Tax on these purchases when filing your PA return.
How to Report
- Navigate to the State Taxes section on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Click the link: I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- In the dropdown menu, select Pennsylvania.
- Click on the General tab.
- Click on “Use Tax” toopen the form.
- Enter all applicable information.
- Click ‘Save‘ once complete.
