What Is This Credit?
Colorado’s DR-1370 form is used to report various business-related credits, including:
- EZ Investment Tax Credit
- Renewable Energy Investment Credit
- Commercial Vehicle Investment Credit
- Qualified Job Training Credit
- Refund certificates and carryforward credits from previous years
These credits support business development, clean energy, and job creation in designated Colorado enterprise zones. You may also need to complete worksheets that support employment and building-related investment claims.
Who Should Fill Out This Screen?
You should fill out the DR-1370 screens if any of the following apply:
- You invested in equipment or property in a Colorado enterprise zone
- You made renewable energy or commercial vehicle purchases for business use
- You invested in a qualified job training program
- You received or are carrying forward a credit refund certificate
- You have enterprise zone expenditures or employee counts to report for supporting documentation
What You’ll Need to Enter
The DR-1370 screens will prompt you to enter:
- Business name and Colorado account number
- Pass-through entity information (if applicable)
- Percentage of ownership
- Current-year credit amounts and amounts used to offset tax (from Form DR 1366)
- Credit refund certificates and any amounts carried forward
- Enterprise zone worksheet data (new hires, qualified expenditures, and more)
How to Enter DR-1370 Credit Information
Each screen must be added manually from the EZ/CHIPS tab:
Screen 1: Main DR-1370 Entry
- Go to the State Taxes section on the left-hand side.
- Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- Select Colorado from the dropdown menu.
- Click the EZ/CHIPS tab.
- Select CO – DR-1370: EZ Credit Investment Credit/Commercial Vehicle.
- Enter:
- Your name, account number, and pass-through entity info
- Credit amounts generated and applied for:
- Investment tax credit
- Renewable energy investment
- Commercial vehicle investment
- Job training investment
- Any refund certificates or carryforward amounts
- Click Save
Screen 2: DR-1370 – Continued
This screen includes additional credit offsets and refund certificates:
- Navigate again to the EZ/CHIPS tab.
- Select CO – DR-1370: Continued.
- Enter:
- Amounts from Lines D–J of Form DR 1366 used to offset tax
- Related Credit Drawn Against Refund Certificate amounts
- Amounts used or refunded for:
- Commercial Building Rehabilitation Credit
- Colorado Job Growth Incentive Credit
- Click Save
Screen 3: Worksheets 1 and 3
- Go to the EZ/CHIPS tab.
- Select CO – DR-1370: Worksheets 1 and 3.
- Enter values for:
- Worksheet 1 – Qualified Employees
- Monthly average of qualified new employees
- Highest number of employees in any prior year
- Line C and Line G employees in enhanced rural/agricultural zones
- Number of health insurance-qualified employees
- Worksheet 3 – Qualified Expenditures
- Current year expenditures
- Expenditures for the first and second preceding years
- Click Save
Screen 4: Worksheet 2 – Building Expenditures
- Return to the EZ/CHIPS tab.
- Select CO – DR-1370: Worksheet 2.
- Enter current-year qualified expenses for:
- First Building
- Second Building
- Third Building
- Fourth Building
- Click Save
