IL – Schedule ICR – Line 5 Error

This error occurs when the Illinois return is missing the Property Index Number (PIN) required for the Property Tax Credit section of Schedule ICR.

To correct this issue:

1. Click on the State Taxes section in the left sidebar
2. Open the Illinois Property Tax Credit screen
3. Enter the Property Index Number (PIN) — sometimes called a parcel number — for the property listed on Line 4a.

The PIN is usually located near the top of your property tax bill or assessment notice.

• If your property taxes are paid through your mortgage, your lender may have a copy of the bill
• You may also obtain this number by contacting your county assessor’s office

Once the PIN is entered, re-save the screen and attempt to file again.
