Overview
If you or your spouse have made estimated tax payments to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (PA DOR), but wish to transfer those payments to another PA personal income tax account (such as to a spouse or to a jointly filed return), you must complete the Consent to Transfer PA Estimated Personal Income Tax Account form within your state tax return.
This form authorizes the PA DOR to reallocate estimated payments to the correct tax account.
When Should You Use This Form?
You should file this consent form if:
- You made estimated payments under a separate SSN and need them applied to a joint return, or
- You and your spouse both made separate estimated payments and need them combined, or
- You are claiming a prior year overpayment that needs to be reallocated to a different taxpayer account.
Note: This is especially common when spouses file separately for estimated payments but later file a joint return.
How to Report
- Navigate to the State Taxes section on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Click the link: “I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.”
- In the dropdown menu, select Pennsylvania.
- Click on the Other tab.
- Click on “Consent to Transfer PA Estimated Personal Income Tax Account” to open the form.
- Enter all applicable information.
- Click ‘Save‘ once complete.
Helpful Tips
- Do not enter this information on the main estimated payments screen—it must be entered via the Consent to Transfer screen to be processed correctly.
- Be sure to double-check SSNs and amounts to avoid delays in processing.
- If you are unsure whether a transfer is needed, check your PA estimated tax payment history online or contact the PA DOR.
