General Information
This screen is used to complete Schedule H – Homeowner and Renter Property Tax Credit (PTC) for the District of Columbia. It is located under the DC Credits tab.
- Select whether Schedule H standalone applies. (If checked, this value will not flow to the main form, and you must paper file for the refund.)
- Indicate if the taxpayer:
- Rented or owned and lived in a DC home during all of the year
- Lived in a property exempt from real property taxes
- Resided in a public housing dwelling
- Select the Property Type (House, Apartment, Rooming House, Condominium, Cooperative).
Property Information
Enter the address of the DC property for which the credit is being claimed (if different than the address on the D-40).
Section A: Credit Claim Based on Rent Paid
- Enter the total rent paid on this property in 2024.
- Provide Landlord Information, including:
- Name
- Address (including Apartment Number, Address Continued, ZIP, City, State)
- Phone Number
Section B: Credit Claim Based on Real Property Tax Paid
- Enter Square Number, Suffix Number, and Lot Number for the DC property.
- Select if the refund goes to an account outside of the United States.
Green fields are override fields, which replace amounts otherwise calculated or imported.
How to Add This Screen
- Click on the State Taxes section on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Click the link “I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.”
- Use the drop list to select District of Columbia.
- Under the Credits tab, select Schedule H – Homeowner and Renter PTC – Page 1.
- Complete the screen.
- Click Save.
