IN – Schedule 6G – Credit for Taxes Paid

Overview

This screen is used to enter details for Indiana’s credit for taxes paid to another state. Taxpayers may be eligible to claim this credit when they are taxed by another state on income also taxed by Indiana.

Entry Fields

  • State Code – Use the dropdown menu to select the state to which taxes were paid.
  • Amount of tax paid to the other state – Enter the total tax amount paid to the selected state. This is an override field.
  • Amount of income from other state – Enter the portion of income taxed by the other state. This is an override field.
  • Foreign – Check this box if the taxes were paid to a foreign country rather than another U.S. state.

Override Fields

Fields highlighted in green are override fields. These entries replace any data that may flow from other sections of the return and must be entered manually.

How to Add This Screen

  1. Click on the State Taxes section on the left-hand side of the screen.
  2. Click the link “I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.”
  3. Use the drop list to select Indiana.
  4. Under the Credits tab, select IN – Schedule 6/G – Credit for Taxes Paid to Other States Worksheet.
  5. Complete the screen.
  6. Click Save.
