The most common cause for this rejection is that the IRS records are not up to date, due to the dealer having not submitted the required information to IRS Energy Credits Online (ECO). You will need to communicate with your dealer to ensure the dealer uploads the vehicle purchase information to ECO.

If the dealer did not upload the information, you would want to wait to file your until the IRS has the vehicle’s information to prevent the return from further rejections while trying to claim the credit.
