AL – Schedule DC Donation Check-Offs – A Guide to Charitable Contributions

Alabama taxpayers can contribute to a wide variety of charitable and state-supported programs through Schedule DC – Donation Checkoffs as part of their state income . By using Schedule DC, Alabama residents can support meaningful causes while filing their state taxes, making a lasting impact on communities and services across the state.

Donation Contribution Process

To donate to any of the funds listed below:

  1. Navigate to the State Taxes section on the left-hand side of your screen.
  2. Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
  3. Expand the Alabama section.
  4. Click the General tab.
  5. Open Schedule DC – Donation Checkoffs.
  6. Enter the donation amount in the applicable line.
  7. Click Save.

The total donations must be less than or equal to your tax overpayment minus any amount applied to . If your entered amount exceeds this, the system will automatically adjust the donation.

Eligible Donation Funds and Purposes

Alabama Senior Services Trust Fund (Line 1a)

Supports programs for the aging in Alabama. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1a.

Alabama Arts Development Fund (Line 1b)

The Alabama Arts Development Fund provides for grants to tax exempt organizations or associations to encourage development of quality arts activities or cultural facilities in local areas. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1b.

Alabama Nongame Wildlife Fund (Line 1c)

The nongame wildlife fund program is under the jurisdiction of the Game and Fish Division of the Department of Conservation. This provides management of such nongame wildlife in the state. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1c.

Child Abuse Trust Fund (Line 1d)

A donation to this fund is used to encourage direct provision of services to prevent child abuse and neglect. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1d.

Alabama Veterans’ Program (Line 1e)

The donation to this fund is used to promote supportive assistance through nursing and related health care for Alabama ailing and aged veterans of the armed forces who have need of special nursing and related health care services. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1e.

Alabama State Veterans Cemetery at Spanish Fort Foundation, Inc. (Line 1f)

The donation to this fund is used to promote the cemetery and support other veteran organizations, activities and programs which promote the welfare of veterans and commemorate the honorable service provided by veterans. Foster Care Trust Fund (Line 1g)

The Foster Care Trust Fund provides educational, athletic, artistic, and special occasion opportunities to Alabama’s foster children. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1g.

Mental Health (Line 1h)

This is a non-profit organization dedicated to the eradication of mental illness and to the improvement of the quality of life of those whose lives are affected by these diseases. Your donation to the fund will help provide unconditional support to people experiencing mental pain and those struggling toward recovery. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1h.

Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Research Program (Line 1i)

The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Comprehensive Cancer Center is a nationally funded leader in breast and cervical research providing innovative clinical care to the people of Alabama. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1i.

Alabama Military Support Foundation (Line 1j)

This fund was established to promote better relations between employers and National Guard/Reserve members. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1j.

Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation Spay/Neuter Program (Line 1k)

The Alabama Veterinary medical foundation spay/neuter program aids low-income residents to spay or neuter their dog or cat. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1k.

Cancer Research Institute (Line 1l)

The donation to this fund used to improve cancer survival rates for patients through research aimed at increasing prevention and treatment. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1l.

Children First Trust Fund (Line 1m)

Donations to the Children First Trust fund will go toward ensuring that all of Alabama’s children are prepared for school success and lifelong learning through voluntary, diverse, high-quality early childhood programs. State Parks Division of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Line 1n)

The donation to this fund is used to support the conservation and management of Alabama’s many state parks. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1n.

Department of Mental Health 2023 (Line 1o)

Donations to the Department of Mental Health 2023 support the health and well-being of Alabamians with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. If you wish to contribute to this program, enter in the desired dollar amount on Schedule DC, line 1o.

Alabama Medicaid Agency (Line 1p)
