Extension Process

If the federal is filed and accepted, California automatically grants you a 6-month state tax extension. An automatic extension does not extend the time to pay your tax. If you do not need to file a federal income , but you expect to owe for California, then you can complete and mail California Form FTB 3519.

Payment Options

If you need to make a payment or do not file a federal income tax extension, then you must complete Form FTB 3519.

If you filed a federal extension but need to make a tax payment to California, you can visit the CA DOR website to see your options. https://www.ftb.ca.gov/pay/index.html
