Overview
The State of Connecticut offers two methods for disbursing individual income tax refunds:
Option 1: Direct Deposit
During the filing process, you may choose to have your Connecticut refund electronically deposited into your bank account.
- To ensure accurate processing:
- Confirm your routing and account numbers directly with your financial institution.
- Enter the information carefully on the direct deposit screen during filing.
- To verify direct deposit was included in your filed return:
- Navigate to My Account > My Return and open the PDF of your e-filed return.
- Within the PDF, you will find a Transaction Summary section, where you can review the included banking details.
Option 2: Paper Check
If you do not select direct deposit—or if you are a first-time filer—your refund will be issued as a paper check. Please note that this may result in longer processing time.
Additional Information
If you are unable to pay your preparation fees upfront and are eligible for e-Collect, you may choose to use this service. With e-Collect, your preparation fees will be deducted from your refund before disbursement. You will still have the option to receive the remaining refund amount via direct deposit.
