Overview
The Kansas Low-Income Student Scholarship Credit (Form K-70) allows taxpayers who make contributions to approved scholarship-granting organizations in Kansas to receive credit against their state income tax liability. This credit is designed to support educational opportunities for low-income students.
Eligibility Criteria:
You may be eligible for the Low-Income Student Scholarship Credit if:
- You made a cash contribution to a Kansas-approved scholarship-granting organization (SGO).
- The SGO is certified by the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR).
- You have not claimed the same contribution for another Kansas tax credit.
Important Information
The credit is non-refundable, but unused credits may be carried forward to future tax years (refer to the Kansas tax booklet for limitations).
Add Form K-70
To add the Form K-70:
- Go to the State taxes section.
- Select I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- In the drop list, select Kansas.
- Select the Credits tab.
- Select K-70 – Low-Income Student Scholarship to add and open the form.
- Complete the form with your applicable information.
- Click Save to apply changes.
