Overview
The Kansas Teacher’s Purchase of School and Classroom Supplies Credit (Form K-91) provides a tax credit to eligible Kansas teachers who incur out-of-pocket expenses for classroom supplies used in teaching K–12 students.
Eligibility Criteria:
You may qualify for this credit if:
- You are a teacher, instructor, counselor, principal, or aide in a Kansas public or private K–12 school.
- You worked at least 900 hours during the school year.
- You personally purchased school or classroom supplies used for instructional purposes.
- The credit is claimed for unreimbursed purchases only.
Important Information
- The maximum credit allowed per eligible teacher is typically capped (see the Kansas tax booklet for the current limit).
- Only expenses not reimbursed by the school or another source are eligible.
Add Form K-91
To add the Form K-91:
- Go to the State taxes section.
- Select I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- In the drop list, select Kansas.
- Select the Credits tab.
- Select K-91 – Teacher’s Purchase of School and Classroom Supplies Tax Credit to add and open the form.
- Complete the form with your applicable information.
- Click Save to apply changes.
