KS – Kansas Form K-91 – Teacher’s Purchase of School and Classroom Supplies Tax Credit

Overview

The Kansas Teacher’s Purchase of School and Classroom Supplies Credit (Form K-91) provides a to eligible Kansas teachers who incur out-of-pocket expenses for classroom supplies used in teaching K–12 students.

Eligibility Criteria:

You may qualify for this credit if:

  • You are a teacher, instructor, counselor, principal, or aide in a Kansas public or private K–12 school.
  • You worked at least 900 hours during the school year.
  • You personally purchased school or classroom supplies used for instructional purposes.
  • The credit is claimed for unreimbursed purchases only.

Important Information

  • The maximum credit allowed per eligible teacher is typically capped (see the Kansas tax booklet for the current limit).
  • Only expenses not reimbursed by the school or another source are eligible.

Add Form K-91

To add the Form K-91:

  1. Go to the State taxes section.
  2. Select I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
  3. In the drop list, select Kansas.
  4. Select the Credits tab.
  5. Select K-91 – Teacher’s Purchase of School and Classroom Supplies Tax Credit to add and open the form.
  6. Complete the form with your applicable information.
  7. Click Save to apply changes.
