Article: 50538

Overview

If you are a renter in Missouri and meet certain income and residency criteria, you may be eligible for the Missouri Property (PTC). Renters use Form MO-CRP – Certificate of Rent Paid to report how much rent they paid during the tax year, and how much of that rent is considered property tax equivalent.

This information supports your claim on Form MO-PTC or MO-1040.

Who Needs to Complete Form MO-CRP?

You should file Form MO-CRP if:

  • You rented a home, apartment, or mobile home lot in Missouri during the tax year.
  • You are claiming the Property Tax Credit (PTC) as a renter
  • You lived in the rental unit for all or part of the year, and your landlord paid property taxes on the building.

Note: Only rent paid for private residences qualifies. Public housing and rent paid to tax-exempt landlords may not be eligible.
