Use this form to:

  • Notify the IRS that the home for which you claimed the credit was disposed of or ceased to be your main home.
  • Figure the amount of the credit you must repay with your .

Add Form 5405

To add the Form 5405:

  1. Go to Federal Taxes.
  2. Click Review.
  3. Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
  4. Enter Form 5405 in the search box and click on First-Time Homebuyer Credit Repayment and Sale of Primary Home to add and open the form.
    The Date home was purchased must be in 2008. Then, click the 5405 Repayment Information link. Make entries in the Original credit from Form 5405 and Amount of original credit repaid in prior years sections.
  5. Enter your information and click Save.
