Overview
Some types of income don’t fit neatly into standard IRS forms. For those cases, 1040.com provides a screen called “Other Miscellaneous Income” where several common income types are listed, even though they don’t have specific IRS forms.
Still, some types of income fall outside even those categories. If you have one of these income outliers, you can manually enter a description by following the steps below.
Add Custom Description
To add the custom description
- Go to Federal Taxes.
- Click Review.
- Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- Enter Other in the search box and click on Other Miscellaneous Income to add and open the form.
- Scroll to the bottom and click I still don’t see what I’m looking for.
- Click Add another, then select I want to add my own income description.
- Enter a description in the field Add a description of the income and then the amount.
- Enter the income amount in the box Your Total and click Save.
