Overview
If it is necessary to override the filing status selected on the federal return for Alabama tax purposes, this adjustment can be made directly within the Alabama-specific data entry section.
Overriding the AL Filing Status
Follow the steps below:
- Go to the State taxes section.
- Select I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- In the drop list, select Alabama.
- Select the General tab.
- Select the 40 – Income Tax Return screen.
- Select the desired filing status you wish to use on the Alabama return from the Filing Status Override drop list.
- Click Save to apply changes
