Overview
California provides a ‘pro forma’ version of federal Schedule A to support adjustments for state-only purposes. This form is used to generate data for Schedule CA (540), Part II, line 18 (itemized deductions).
Add the Pro Forma Schedule A
To add the Pro Forma Schedule A:
- Go to the State taxes section.
- Select I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form.
- In the drop list, select California.
- Select the Itemized deductions tab.
- Select CA – Pro Forma Federal Schedule A to add and open the form.
- Complete the form with your applicable information. Green-highlighted fields are system-generated. Override, if necessary, based on your federal Schedule A.
- Click Save to apply changes.
