Article: 50643

Overview

The California Earned Income (CalEITC) provides financial support for low-income working Californians—offering up to $3,644 in tax credit or cash back. It may also help you qualify for additional credits, like the Young Child or Foster Youth tax credits.

When to Suppress the Calculation

If you’re getting an error related to CalEITC, and you don’t have any California state income to report, suppressing the calculation will clear the message.

How to Suppress the Calculation

  1. Go to the State Taxes section.
  2. Click I’d like to see the forms I’ve filled out or search for a form
  3. Open the drop-down for California
  4. Under the General tab, select Earned Income Credit Options and Elections.
  5. At the top of the form, check the box labeled Suppress California calculation
  6. Complete any other applicable fields.
  7. Scroll down and click Save.
