Overview
The state of Washington does not have a personal income tax. However, qualifying individuals and families may be eligible to file Form WFTC to claim the Working Families Tax Credit, a refundable credit designed to provide financial relief to low- and moderate-income households.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Working Families Tax Credit, you must meet all the following:
- Have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
- Lived in Washington State for at least 183 days (over half the year).
- Be 25 to 64, OR have a qualifying child during the tax year.
- Filed a federal income tax return for the current year.
- Be eligible for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), OR would have met EITC requirements but filed with an ITIN.
